The Jamaica National
Children's Home
~Blessed Love~ and heartfelt greetings from Ras Mikey
General and Sista Irie!
The greatest gift in life
is our ability to give and to uplift the lives of all living
things. The Jamaica
National Children's Home is an orphanage for parentless children.
One wing, the Tegwyn Special Unit, also cares for children challenged
with serious mental and physical disabilities. The home was founded
in 1972 by the National Children's Home, U.K., and funded by them
until 1999. The JNCH is now dependant on funding from the Jamaican
government, churches, and private individuals.
Many
of us visit Jamaica and hold a special love in our hearts, especially
for the children.
The purpose of this sight is to raise
awareness and offer an opportunity to gather funding and material
goods, to improve the lives of these children. Needless to say,
the home is in constant need for even the barest of essentials.
Besides funding, the JNCH is in crucial need of clothing, shoes,
school materials, food, and computers. Several programs are also
available: Sponsor A Child, Sponsor A Unit (bed linens, furnishings,
etc) Mentoring, Be A Friend (visit and give emotional love and support),and
Project Support (buy chickens, eggs, produce, baked goods). If you
would like to participate by posting and suggesting ideas on ways
to provide for the home, please let us come together in *love and
unity* and do whatever we can. Ras Mikey General will be the spokesperson.
Information for direct contact with the JNCH is posted at left.
Give thanks and praises.

re: Jamaica National Children's
Home
Greetings in the name of His Imperial Majesty,
The Children's Home
is a very important project for those of us who
are able-bodied and well. It makes us realize how blessed we are
to
have people who love us and people who care and also, to have
been
given perfect health. When I go and look at the children and see
so
many disabilities without anyone to love them or care, it moves
me
and therefore, I must do my little part in helping to contribute
to
the awareness of the JNCH. So many of us take the gift of health
for
granted yet when I look on the faces of these children who are
mentally and physically challenged, I see laughter, I see love,
I see
a soul crying out. If we are truly God's children, we must do
our
part to help those less fortunate than ourselves. As Sizzla said
in
one of his songs, "No act of kindness is ever too small. " Whatever
we can do to help, we must do, whether by just saying a kind word
or
whether by spiritual or material support.

May
the blessings of the Most High be with you all. And
remember, "the least you do unto one of my brothers, you
do unto me."
Thank you. Jah Bless. ~ Mikey
