The world has lost another prophet and many followers will be lost in the wilderness. I have been to many of Culture's concerts in north America, Europe and in Africa and I had the chance to spend some time with him in Montreal. And I must say that he always delivered the message straight from his heart and with true inspiration to the poeple. Every body leaves his concert with blessings and hope and most of all LOVE and PEACE,and as Joseph always says Reggae is something that you feel and hear. My deepest sympaties to his entire family and the whole Rasta World. JAH LIVE!!!!!!!! SIR JOSEPH HILL WAS AN INPIRER TO MANY YOUNG, WHEN WE LOST THE LEGEND ROBERT NESTA MARLEY OF BLESSED MEMORY. HE MADE MADE UNDERSTAND THAT SO LONG AS HE (HILL) LEAVES REAGAE MUSIC NEVER DIES IN HIS LYRICS OF (WHERE THE TREE FALLS-PAY DAY). I STILL REMEMBER, THE SHOCK HE HAD WHEN HE HEARD IN THE NEWS OF BOB'S DEATH, IN ONE OF HIS TRIBUTE LYRICS TO BOB, I ALSO HAD THAT SHOCK EVEN MORE WHEN I HEARD OF HIS. WE WILL STILL REMEMBER YOU WITH THE LEGACY YOU'VE LEFT BEHIND. I KNOW DEFINITELY YOU GONNA SEE JAH'S PREETY FACE AS HE HAS TAKEN WHAT BELONGS TO HIM. MAY YOU REST IN THE BOSSOM OF JAH. JAH LOVE AND KNOW. Though sadden by his passing I’m also grateful for the wonderful legacy he has left behind. His music oh so harmonius, his message so strong, conscious and vibrant will live on forever. He was a champion for the oppressed and was very critical of the corrupt, check ‘Be Honest’ from Three Sides To My Story. It a pity no promoter had the vision to bring him to Belize. I cherish my collection of his albums (22) and play his music everyday. So long my brother So long! RIP Joseph Hill. Hill
When we met each other
You were curious and funny...
With your new top-hat
And starched tail.
And when I looked at You
Your eyes were smiling softly.
Now You don’t belong to this earth
You fly free in the infinite sky
I saw the angels
While they offered you the wings
And they led You by the hand
Over there...towards the immense shine
That no eyes can see
And my soul cannot imagine
A better place for You, now.
There is no reason then
For these warm tears
That are rolling over my face
But while I’m gathering them...
They are clear and pure.
And reflect that same light.
They are gems...
Gems of love shaped
By my heart’s sweetnes
And this is all
That I can give now...
With my blessing.
Blessed are Those
Who sow ecstasy and joy
Instead of sorrow
Music, songs and dances
Instead of riot.
And the echoes of their steps
Resound in the air forever
They are bravest warriors
Claiming
Peace, Justice and Liberty...
Farewell sweet flower
Farewell in a new dawn
Farewell in “His” heart’s Eternal
Light.
One Love
Brother
One Love
MESSAGE
I had just returned to Italy from Richmond, when I knew
of Joseph Hill’s death.
The Culture’s Concert in Richmond had been wonderful.
I remember the Light in Joseph’s eyes...His smile...
I do remember the salutations, the hugs...
As well as Robin’s surprise when he saw me again;
there in Jamaica, his own land!
Now, my heart has been praying for days and it’ s
talking to me with a clearest and strongest voice.
It cannot keep in silence, nor it wants to.
So, I’m turning to You All the same prayer.
I’m talking to anyone who is able to meet them
now.
Please, give them a heartly hug for me, even to Joseph
family.
Please do it for me, because I have no possibility to
be there phisically.
Please, give them this message, just to let them know
how much my heart is near to them.
More than it has ever been.
The sorrow they are living is the same of mine,
in the deep of the soul.
Nevertheless, I feel a great hope is borning and raising, and becoming
more and more sure in itself.
Surely, I will feel the tough harmony of their Music
very soon.
I do know this.
And within that Music, Joseph will continue to live
forever together with us all.
One Love

I saw Culture last year and, actually, didn' t really know the band at that time. I got so impressed from their performance! The 3 singers ahead, they gave us a amazing "come on we are alive" message. Joseph was just on the moon, wearing a black suit with a red tie and a black hat... blablabla!! Marvelous moment we had! So you can imagine that when we got to know they were to be back in town, we got ticket straight away. We attended the show the 22nd of August in Dublin... first gig Culture did whitout Joseph... I can say it was really emotional to see his son performing his old man's songs, getting into it as Joseph was always doing. I don' t believe in any religions, but can say he was a father for a lot of us. Alban <albanverdier@no-log.org> DUBLIN 1, Ireland - Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 07:19:25 (EDT) Jah! PORCUPINE POZDRAWIAMY Kropki <kropaj@wp.pl> Ostróda, Poland - Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 16:13:17 (EDT) Joseph Hill. Where do I start? Culture is one of those reggae bands that any serious reggae addict can't do without. Their sound is roots. They are roots. More than that, though. I had the pleasure of meeting Joseph Hill and Albert Walker when they were playing in 1998 in southern California. Many times, I am sorry to say, I have met my favorite artists only to find that they were not the saints that I had imagined they were. HOWEVER, when I met culture they were absolutely respectful to me (a young dread woman used to getting treated otherwise). They made my baby and I comfortable on their bus for a short time one evening and offered her something to drink. We talked. Joseph Hill told us stories about why children are important and about how much Bob Marley loved children. I left that little visit with my faith that there were people on the music scene who did actually walk their talk restored. Joseph Hill was a man of integrity and talent. I feel as if there's a gap in the world now. He'll never be forgotten. I hope that Jah gives his family strength to get through this. We met as we sat beside each other on a number 30 bus in Kingston, Jamaica, going towards Constant Spring, some time in late 1979 or early 1980. He started a conversation with me because he thought I was a musician (we had been at Tuff Gong at the same time on a prior occasion and he remembered, eh said). I felt proud to have been addressed by this brethren who I already held in high esteem because of his positive lyrics and vibrant music. That he still travelled by bus at the time and chatted with his neighbour meant a lot in my opinion. I wish strength to his family, brethren and associates. JAH Live, Joseph Hill. This came to me as a shock. I wish and hope that HE will join the other legends, like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, etc in the respectable and memorial hall of fame. I personally liked to listen much to his music and I would take pride in the fact that HE was still the living legend. Anyway, its the same road we all walk through, may his soul rest in peace.
